This piece of mine has been submitted to the AMI (Association of Medical Illustrators) Salon!
"This piece was created as an educational illustration, with the intended audience of students studying either advanced high school biology or introductory-level college biology. Using digital techniques learned in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, this piece is meant to accurately represent the organic tissue of the heart and lungs in situ. The illustration is meant as a challenge to display our skills in digital tone, line, and the application of fading a rendering down to line.
The piece is meant to educate the audience of the placement of the heart and lungs within the human body. The composition is meant to emulate a gross anatomical textbook. Formulated through sketches done from direct-observational studies of various cadaver specimens and studying the methods of numerous professional medical illustrators, the piece is intended to educate our audience on major details of our chosen anatomy through the creation of our own accurate, idealized depiction of organic tissue.”
